Texas

Texas (, also locally /’teksIz/; Spanish: Texas, Tejas) is a state in the South Central region of the United States. With a total area of 268,596 square mile (695,660 km ²) and a population of more than 30,000,000 in 2023, Texas is the second largest U.S. State by both size (after Alaska) as well as population (after California). Texas shares borders with Louisiana to its east, Arkansas to its northeast, Oklahoma to its north, New Mexico in the west, the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Coahuila to the south and southwest, and Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon to the southwest. It also has a coastline that faces the Gulf of Mexico on the southeast.
